MyridoM – Haunter of the Night

Don’t be afraid of the Dark…

The Chumby is playing some of my favorite widgets I've created.. Wanna drop me a line, use Google Voice. The call is free, but due to my schedule and work it will go directly to voicemail. But if you leave me a message I'll call you back if you want. Lance

Thank you all..

Apr-6-2009

I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. My family has been overwhelmed by the love from all my friends during this difficult time. I sometimes forget how many people I interact with on a daily basis, until something like this brings everyones thoughts to me at once.

Starry Sky Sholler, beloved sister, April 7th, 1977-April 4th, 2009.
May her troubled soul finally have some peace. I love you, Bubby.

Chumby dissection

Mar-30-2009

I realized today, that two of my four Chumby’s are just over a year old. Whew! I can destroy and dissect to my hearts content. Muahhh haa haa..

I have been wanting to do this for a while, but they are one of my few gadgets I haven’t opened up just to check out. Chumby has published all of their inner workings on the site along with a few other tear-downs I have seen elsewhere, so I never felt a need. So today I took some tools to my Black one and skinned it.
Now I’m not a crafty person. I can’t draw, decorate, or dress myself usually without some sort of advice.
But Deb at work has agreed to sew the new “Tribble” skin for me, if I can cut it out… hehehe
So tomorrow it’s a trip to the craft store to find me the perfect faux fur for my little monster.

New Wacom Bamboo tablet

Mar-30-2009

]#&@*&#*… I can’t blame this one on the cat.. My 12×12 tablet took a big drop on the hardwood floor and has started acting funny. The cursor is jumping all over the screen and I can’t fix it. Bummer.

So look here.. It’s a Wacom Bamboo Fun. Not as big, but very cheap.

Lets see if I can go a week without breaking this one..

2 Weeks left.. Tax Season is almost over

Mar-30-2009

It’s down to the wire for my accountants. It’s gone really quickly this year, with much less stress.
During this time, I seem to pop out widgets left and right. The last few weeks for me is just a babysitting gig. Don’t patch, break, or otherwise interrupt the work flow. Leave the accountants alone and stay in your office. LOL That’s why widget come so easily..

Speaking on the widget front, I posted around 6 new ones in the last 3 weeks and a few code fixes to some of the older ones. Have a look

And last but not least.. April 1’st is my 11 year anniversary.. My only words of advice to anyone interested.. “Keep your money separate.” We don’t fight about money, because we each have our own accounts and pay bills first then play. I’m not much of a saver, but my better half is. We both have different opinions on what constitutes a necessity. I think Internet is one of them, someone else disagrees. But since I pay that bill, I have the fastest I can get…LOL
I listened to my folks fight about money as a child and vowed to never do it. So this might work for you, think about it.

Polaroid – another company what sucks

Mar-26-2009

So I found a deal on a Polaroid XSA-00660S Crappy Frame.
So I get 3 of them, figure I could use them as last minute gifts. Wrong!
A number of problems showed up as soon as I started playing with one.
1. The pictures on the box, do not equate to the features of the product. IE the clock looks nothing like the clock in the unit.
2. Polaroid customer support can only read from a script. “Unfortunately this product has been discontinued and we can no longer offer support for the product.” I don’t give a shit. I bought the product, you have a 90 day warranty in the box.. I want help.
3. The unit cannot be flashed with upgrades, because see #2, and there aren’t any.
4. Unit #1 stopped working after 15 minutes.

After looking around the web, I see their in bankruptcy.. LOL Problem solved!
You provide this type of product and customer support, people will stop buying your crap…

Milk, widget updates and coffee

Mar-24-2009

Still working hard on my “Remember the Milk” widget. Things are coming along nicely.

I’m currently rolling out widget updates for Chumby. Most are just code cleanup and a few reworked items. This is mainly for my benefit. Taking off on the Android tangent, I was scripting all wrong. I think for the time being I’m going to bone up on my Flash. I’m a crappy artist to begin with and need to work on my presentation. To that end.. I have a nice new 12×12 Adesso Tablet that I’m trying to figure out how to use to my advantage. My work still looks like a 7 year old is drawing it, but at least it doesn’t take me as long now.. hehehe

Coffee has been replaced this week with Sugar-Free Red Bull.. Not as nice on the tongue, but it’s keeping me focused.

Google Voice.. account migrated from GrandCentral

Mar-18-2009

I like it. BUT.. I’m shocked at the errors in the contact manager.
I guess that’s why they are rolling it out as slowly as they are. I’ve already submitted 4 error reports. Which is not bad, just inconvenient since I cannot edit the contacts and fill in the information I need to make it work with the way I want it to.
Now the parts that are working are nice. The transcription feature is way cool. And it even works with my southern accent, which is amazing in itself.
More later as the bugs are fixed and I get a chance to play with all the new features.

Milk side project- xml class

Mar-15-2009

Since working on my Remember the Milk Post-It notes project, I knew I needed to work on a RSS/XML/ATOM parser. So that’s what I’m doing today. That and cleaning house. And the dorkdog needs a bath..

I can’t believe someone hasn’t written one already too handle all of this. Well I guess Adobe wrote one for AS3, but since I don’t use that…LOL

Speaking of, kinda wish Adobe would bring up their embeded code to support AS3.

Well I’m gonna finish my Starbucks, get back to the house and be productive.

“Ass, Grass or Gas..” that was the day

Mar-13-2009

I’ve decided, it’s time to turn back the clock. If you need me to come fix your computer, the old adage will now apply. “Ass, Grass or Gas”, you want something I have, I want something you have.
The following are acceptable forms of payment:
Cash
Clean my house
Clean my car
Clean my dog
Dinner & Drinks
Starbucks Giftcards
Amazon Giftcards
or the ever classic blowjob.

If your not willing, neither am I!
